In 2019, Areté Structures provided a 52-foot FRP truss bridge kit for the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship. As a non-profit organization, they served as stewards of hundreds of acres of land in a beautiful valley in northern Virginia known locally as “Between the Hills.” Since then that land has become Virginia’s newest state park, known as Sweet Run State Park. The BRCES is now the “Between the Hills Conservancy” and is dedicated to supporting the new park. Sweet Run State Park has an extensive system of hiking and equestrian trails. Areté’s bridge enables the Old Bridge Trail to provide the shortest link between the two parking areas. The FRP truss bridge is set on timber piles with timber approaches. This method can help minimize the impact to the surrounding environment from trucks and equipment during construction.
