This 80-foot-long bridge, built in 2019 is located along the C&O Canal Towpath trail on the northern shore of the Potomac River. Areté worked closely with the contractor and the Park Service on this FRP trail bridge. It was important that the bridge be long-lasting and functional while maintaining the character of this beautiful National Historic Park. We incorporated longitudinal timber decking and slate gray FRP material to help integrate this bridge with its surroundings. This is a beautiful trail with a fascinating history. It’s well worth a visit if you have the opportunity. Here’s a link to a blog post where you can learn a little more about this project. Bridging History: The Seneca Creek Aqueduct – Arete Structures
