Olive green FRP truss bridge installed on the Watkins Spicebush Trail in Maryland.

In 2025, Areté Structures fabricated three custom FRP truss bridges (15, 19, and 39 feet long by 6.33 feet wide) for the Spicebush Trail in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Installed within Watkins Regional Park, these sturdy crossings ensure safe, reliable access along the 3 to 3.5-mile wooded loop.

Designed to blend into the environment, the FRP truss bridges feature an olive green finish, sloped ends, and pressure-treated yellow pine flooring built for heavy traffic. Each bridge also includes a specialized 54-inch rail height to safely accommodate mountain bikers. By bridging natural gaps in the mixed terrain, these structures help visitors easily navigate the landscape and access the park’s extensive trails, campsites, and picnic areas.
